It was an incredibly tight contest between Columba College and Southland Girls' First XV on Monday night during the annual inter-school rugby matchup.

I have noticed that some students are in need of a reminder about how to wear our winter uniform correctly.

This past week, Year 9 student Lula Joseph took part in the 2022 Ngā Manu Kōrero speech competition, held in Invercargill.

Next week we will celebrate International Week 2022. The International Department and students have organised a number of fun activities for the whole school to enjoy.

In this week’s ‘Classics Week’-themed Vox Populi, we invite Year 13 student and esteemed classicist Jasper Davis to cast a critical eye over The Mechanism’s second album, 'Ulysses Dies at Dawn'.

On Thursday evening last week, Year 13 students Amelia Francis, Masyn Harrex and Eri Lovegrove flew to Wellington to experience life in Design for a day. This is what they made of the experience in Poneke, our capital city.

On Tuesday, at morning tea time, our wonderful Year 6 leaders ran a Matariki fact hunt around the Junior School.

From the 27th to the 30th May, the 2022 National NZIER Debating Competition took place, involving 14 regional teams from across the country.

Congratulations to our 2022 raffle winners!

On Sunday 19th June, the Columba 9A and 10A netball teams travelled to Timaru to take part in the annual Roncalli College Junior Development Tournament. Always a timely tournament in preparation for the South Island Secondary Schools Netball Championships in July, this day of competition proved invaluable as our teams prepare for the big stage in Christchurch!

We are urgently looking for two homestay hosts who could provide our international students with a warm, welcoming and safe environment for Terms 3 and 4, 2022. We also require a short-term homestay for five days during the Term 2 school holidays.

We are halfway through the academic year already! This means we are saying au revoir (goodbye) to the first language rotation this week and bonjour (hello) to the second language rotation next week.

Dunedin Netball has offered to run a free umpire educational session for all netball players at Columba College on the morning of Thursday 7th July, onsite in the Marsh Sports Centre (7:15am - 8:15am). We encourage all netball players (Year 7-13) to sign up for this valuable workshop that will cover the basic skills of umpiring and rules of the game.
