Year 3-8 Rippa Rugby Tournament

Mrs Graamans —

Columba had four teams competing in the Otago Primary Schools mixed Rippa Rugby Tournament, held at Forsyth Barr Stadium on Wednesday 19 June.

We had four teams lucky enough to play in the tournament.  It was a fantastic opportunity for players to experience the game of Rippa and very exciting to be allowed to play on the field at Forsyth Barr Stadium.  The teams got to play either four or five round robin games.

Our 7&8 students combined with John McGlashan students to enable them to enter into the tournament.   All of the students played really well and worked hard every game.  Well done to the Year 7&8 Columba/JMC Green team who made it to the final.  It was a tight and intense game against Taieri, both teams showed a lot of skill and great teamwork, after a slow start the Columba/JMC team came close but couldn't quite close the gap and lost the game 9-7.

Thank you to all for our parent volunteers who helped coach and manage our teams. Well done to all our students who represented the school very well, they were very polite and respectful and worked well together.
