International Languages: Level 1

Course Outline

Prerequisite: To have studied the language at Year 10 level or with approval from the HoD of Languages.

For each of the International Languages offered at Columba in 2023 (Chinese, French and German) there are two internally assessed Standards, worth 10 credits, and two externally assessed Standards worth 10 credits, making a total of 20 credits.

An assessment statement will be issued early in Term One, outlining how the internally assessed Standards will be delivered and when they will be due. Students are required to keep a portfolio of their writing and speaking in the target language and present it for assessment in Term 3.
