In July of this year, I was extremely lucky to take part in the 2018 Pädagogische Austauschdienst scholarship trip, which took me on an all expense paid, 5 week trip to Germany.

On Wednesday 19 September the Columba College Book Quiz was held for all students Y6 – 10 in the Sports Centre as part of our Book Week.

This was the motto for our superstar Senior A Netball Team during the 2018 South Island Secondary School Tournament held in Dunedin.

Our Junior A Basketball team competed at the South Island Secondary School Tournament held in Timaru.

Our Football First XI Team gained silver at the 2018 South Island Secondary School Satellite Tournament, held in Dunedin during Winter Sports Week.

It became evident how much this team loves their sport as they rallied together to overcome every obstacle they faced in their build-up - losing a captain, goalkeeper and coach - taking it all in their stride to come away with a bronze medal shows phenomenal character.

The Art department has had a busy and exciting Term 3. Our senior students have been working hard on their NCEA folios and have also been participating in public art exhibitions/competitions.

Once again, Columba students have performed extremely well in these three international competitions. The results are as follows:

After great consideration ‘The Fiddler on the Roof’ was chosen as the school musical for 2018. What a good choice it turned out to be with many long term ‘Columba Musical Goers’ saying it was the best show ever.

The Intermediate Department is very grateful to the Parents’ Association who recently funded an upgrade to our students’ lockers.

Fresh snow and blue skies at Coronet Peak are not always a given but we had it all. The International ski trip in August was a great success in a number of ways.

Columba College entered a team into the Peak to Peak Multisport event held in Queenstown on 11 August.

Recently eight Year 10 Economics students went to the Growing NZ Innovation Challenge.

The Year 11 Geography classes travelled out to the Taieri Plains to investigate how dairy farmers use their land sustainably.

The Junior school enjoyed a pyjama day to celebrate the upcoming book week.

Columba College entered many teams for the annual Mathematics Competition - both at Junior and Senior level.

A superb effort against 50 other teams saw our Year 10 team of Jody Syme, Olivia Charles and Georgia Wong take out the Otago Extra! Current Event Quiz for 2018.

On Monday the 10th of September David Elliot, a local and world renowned author and illustrator, visited Columba College.

The Junior Classes (Year 0-6) have all had the opportunity to take part in six gymnastics sessions at the Dunedin Gymnastic Academy.

The Year 6 class has been very busy participating in a computer challenge and a virtual field trip to Iceland.

The Year 4 Class recently visited the Otago Museum. We explored how Māori have traditionally used natural resources from their local environment to improve their lives.

The Parents' Association invite you to come along to the 2018 Art Exhibition in Constance Hall on October 26 -28.

A number of our Year 8 to Year 10 girls involved themselves in a day out on 21 August of tree planting and education around global warming.

On Friday 28 September the Columba College Sports Council will hold their main fundraiser and annual Golf Tournament at the St Clair Golf Course.

Aliya Drake and Elloise Cameron, both of Year 8, used their own initiative to organise a sausage sizzle at Countdown Central to raise money for KidsCan.
