Our Football First XI Team gained silver at the 2018 South Island Secondary School Satellite Tournament, held in Dunedin during Winter Sports Week.

Led by Captain Mikayla Gray with back up from Vice Captains Kate Macbeth and Sophie Gaudin this awesome team completed pool play undefeated with some huge score margins, setting them up nicely to face a very strong Roncalli side in the finals. Playing against the wind proved tough, with the opposition taking the lead and not looking back. A penalty in the second half by Mikayla gave Columba a bit of hope but the talented Timaru side came out on top and Columba held their heads high for a very respectable second place. South Island runners-up is a huge effort and something to be incredibly proud of. 

Thank you to all coaches and management for everything you did for this team of stars. What a fabulous journey. Special mention to Kate Macbeth and Mikayla Gray as they wore the dove for the final time, they have been outstanding leaders and were instrumental in demonstrating worth ethic and fair play - hugely inspirational to those younger athletes and setting an example for them to aspire towards - thank you.
