Columba College becomes seventh NZ Partnership School

Ms Riethmaier —

Columba and John McGlashan Colleges jointly become Partnership Schools through the Foreign Ministry of the Federal Republic of Germany

Earlier this week the Principals of Columba and John McGlashan signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a representative of the Goethe-Institut, Heike Papenthin, to become the seventh New Zealand Partnership School to be linked with the German Ministry of Foreign Afffairs and with Partnership Schools around the world.

This initiative promotes links between the PASCH Schools abroad and in Germany. Already one of our Year 12 students, Victoria Williamson, has been awarded a PASCH Scholarship to attend a three-week, all expenses paid, language course in Germany next January.

We look forward to the many benefits this relationship will bring for our students and teachers of German, and are grateful for the quiet support that Germany provides for the teaching of German in New Zealand and worldwide, as well as for linking students of German from all around the world.

Interestingly, our exchange schools, Datong High School in Shanghai, and the CIV in Valbonne, are also both PASCH Schools. Closer to home, our Year 8 students enjoyed competing in the Autobahnspiel run by Heike Papenthin during her time in Dunedin.
