The Year 13 Geography class travelled to the Queenstown district to investigate both glaciation and tourism processes.

School is closed on Monday to observe Otago Anniversary day.

Last weekend the Columba College Athletics team competed in the Otago Secondary Schools Athletics Championships and enjoyed plenty of success over the two days of competition.

The second Student Council meeting for 2021 was held on Thursday, and it was great to see so many students enthusiastic to contribute to the school.

On Thursday the children in Year 5 and 6 boarded the bus at 8.40am to head down to the Portobello Marine Studies Centre to participate in the “Suckers and Tentacles” programme. This related to our current Science Living World topic perfectly as the children had been exploring the concept of evolution through our particular focus on molluscs, especially the octopus and squid.

The year 11s are passionate cooks. So much so that one person is bringing in French baking every week now!

This year, celebrations were put on hold due to safety precautions under Level 2. However, once we were able to celebrate we had a great time.

In Mandarin class, Year 0-1 students are learning general information about China. They learned about the popular places, food and animals in China with Ms Ding and Miss Yang.

The Columba College Parents’ Association has their first meeting for 2021 on Monday, 29 March 2021 at 7.30pm in the Rose Room.
