Renewable Energy: Week 5 Launch!

Ashleigh Macdonald —

Get ready to spark some bright ideas! In Week 5, our kura will be launching an exciting new pūtaiao(science) unit focused on the power of renewable energy. We'll be diving deep into how we can use the Earth's natural resources to create a sustainable future.

Our junior ākonga will be exploring the pātai(question): "How can we use the sun to make energy that helps our planet?" They'll be discovering the amazing potential of solar power and learning how sunlight can be transformed into usable energy.

Meanwhile, our senior ākonga will be tackling the challenge: "How can we use natural resources (wind and water) to make energy that helps our planet?" They'll be investigating the forces of nature, from the mighty wind to the flowing water, and understanding how these can be harnessed for energy production.

This hands-on learning experience wouldn't be possible without the incredible support of whānau. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to our skipathon fundraiser last year. Your generosity has enabled us to purchase vital pūtaiao(science) resources, which have now been collated into fantastic kits ready for our kaiako(teachers) to pick up and use in the classroom. We're excited to see the ākonga (students) engage with these resources and discover the wonders of renewable energy.
