Thank you to the parents/caregivers who have offered to assist with supervision on the bus and at the pool. We appreciate your help, and could not continue to run this activity without your assistance.
They will participate in 8 lessons with a trained instructor from the Christchurch City Council Swim Safe Program.

A request for contribution for $31 was added to your child's Hero Account on 15 September. The parent contribution is kindly requested by 27th October.
If paying online please use the reference "Swim Safe" to assist with reconciliation, remember to include your child's name and current Room No.
We were successful with our grant application to the New Zealand Community Trust and will be able to reduce each student's Swim Safe contribution from $45 to $31 per student for 8 days of swimming lessons and bus transport which represents extremely good value.
Many thanks to the New Zealand Community Trust for supporting our students to attend the Swim Safe Program in 2023.
Year 5 Sailing and Water Confidence
Tuesday 5th and Wednesday 6th October
Parent Transport / Supervision Survey sent our via Hero on 9th October - to be completed by ALL parents
Year 5 students will be participating in the KORE Education Sailing and Water Confidence Activities at Lake Rua on Tuesday 5th December - Wednesday 6th December.
As part of our Outdoor Education Programme, the Year 5 children will be experiencing Water Confidence Activities and Sailing with the KORE team at Lake Rua. All children in Year 5 classes will be involved in activities across both days.
Thanks to the parents/caregivers who have offered to provide transport and supervision earlier in the year, we hope you are still keen to help out on these new dates. We are now needing confirm which parents/caregivers are available to assist on 5th - 6th December.
As this is a water based event we require a ratio of 1:5 students to ensure that we meet our safety requirements. Therefore we are asking that parents are able to commit to volunteering for the day, and are willing to get into the water alongside the students. If you can assist please indicate on the Hero survey sent out on 9th October and your child's class teacher will be in touch.
Further information will be sent out later this Term but at this stage we do need an indication of parents who would be willing to transport/assist with supervision at Lake Rua so we know if we can proceed with this trip.
You will need to be at school by 8.45am. The KORE team are expecting us 9:15- 9.30am. The day will conclude at approximately 2.30pm.
Non-Payments - Students who have not registered/paid for this activity will be supervised back at school.
The cost of participating in both activities will be $70 per child. If you are new this year, or requested a refund please arrange immediate payment of $70 so you attend these days.
Any queries regarding the Sailing/Water Confidence Program should be directed to Year 5 Team Leader, Nathan Fortune (nathan.fortune@cotswold.school.nz)
Thank you for your support - Year 5 Teachers
Year 4 Beach Education
Monday 4th December - South Brighton Surf Club
Planning is underway for this exciting activity for our Year 4 students which is scheduled for Monday 4th December. NB. this is a change of date from what was previously advertised in the Pānui.
Look out for a Hero Post with more information in the next day or so.
Parents and teachers are expected to participate in both water and beach activities. The programme requires a minimum of 1 adult to every 5 students throughout the day. It is essential that parents and teachers bring their togs (wetsuits optional) and are prepared to be in the water up to their waists.
A parent contribution of $10 was requested to cover the cost of bus transport to/from South Brighton Surf Club and trained lifeguards providing a full day of beach education.
We were thrilled to receive a grant from Air Rescue Services Limited to cover the lifeguard costs so each student's contribution was reduced from $26 to $10 per student.
If paying online please use the reference "Beach Ed" to assist with reconciliation, remember to include your child's name and current Room.
