Creatives In Schools Project Update

Ashleigh Macdonald —

Cotswold Mātāhae has been lucky to secure funding for the first semester of 2023 for artist Morgan Matthews-Hale to work with a group of our senior school artists.

On Wednesday, 29th March, our creative in-school students braved the cold weather to explore Willowbank.

The purpose of our trip was to explore native flora and fauna and native species and see what the Mātāhae stream could have looked like as we walked through the walkways. We loved exploring Willowbank with Morgan Hale-Matthews as she talked to us about the native species and their features of them and pointed out the native plants as we made our way around the wildlife reserve.

Thank you to Kristy Willis for helping to make this trip possible for our Cotswold Mātāhae budding artists. The creatives are excited to use the inspiration from this trip to create artwork for our school community to depict our cultural narrative through their eyes.

Keep your eyes peeled for more updates in the following newsletter.
