Cotswold Mātāhae Swim Safe Programme

Stephen Harrison —

As part of our PE programme, Year 2 – 6 children will visit Jellie Park for a series of 10 swimming lessons. Children will have lessons in small groups. Previous classes which have taken part in this programme have reported a big improvement in the children’s swimming skills.

All Year 2 - 6 students will be heading off each day for swimming lessons at Jellie Park from Monday 14 November to Friday 25 November 2022.

Children will take part in a half hour group swimming session each day. Lessons will be held between 9.30am - 2.30pm. The first group will depart from school at approximately 9.00am and all groups should be back at Cotswold Mātāhae School by approximately 3.00pm.

Swimming togs, towel, goggles etc all need to be clearly named and carried in an appropriate bag. (It would also be a good idea to write Cotswold Mātāhae School on items just in case they are mislaid.) The children will have morning tea / lunch prior to or on their return from the pool.

Forms were sent home with your child on Tuesday. Please carefully read and complete the forms.

  • Year 2-4 students will come home with a consent form/parent helpers form and an EOTC Health Profile. ALL forms needs to be completed and returned to your child's teacher by THIS FRIDAY, 4 November.
  • Year 5-6 students will come home with a consent form/parent helper form and we will use the EOTC Health Profile forms used for Camp/Sailing. If you need to provide updated Medical Details please ask your class teacher for a new EOTC form to complete. Please return all forms to your child's teacher by THIS FRIDAY, 4 November.

A request for contribution has been added to your child's Hero Account today and we are asking parents for a $55 contribution towards the cost of the Swim Safe Program.

This cost covers TEN swimming lessons with a trained instructor from the Christchurch City Council Swim Safe Program, and bus transport to and from Jellie Park. We feel this is extremely good value for two weeks of swimming lessons.

If paying online please use the reference "Swim Safe" to assist with reconciliation remember to include your child's name and current Room No.

Payment plans can be set up by contacting the School Office via email office@cotswold.school.nz or coming in to the School Office between 8.30 - 3.15pm.

The Board reviews all EOTC activities each year and the level of parent contribution is a factor in us determining if we can continue to offer some of the activities we have offered in previous years. We appreciate your ongoing support of our school EOTC Programs.

Thank you for your continued support of this valuable EOTC program.
