This year we will be holding the Junior School Duathlon on Friday 9 December. Races will be held from 9.20am through to 12.40pm.

This year we will be holding the Junior School Duathlon on Friday 9 December. Races will be held from 9.20am through to 12.40pm.

Requirements For The Day:

All children participating in the Duathlon need:

• A helmet (scootering and biking)
• Suitable running clothing (House colours if possible)
• Named drink bottle
• A scooter for the Year 1 students
• A bike for the Year 2/3 races (please check your child’s bike prior to the race for flat tyres, brakes and chains). If your child is unable to ride a bike please let your classroom teacher know prior to the race as there will be alternate course using a scooter

• All children are required to wear a helmet during the scootering/ biking section of the Duathlon. If the children don’t have a helmet on the day they will not be able to participate.

If you require any equipment for the day please see your classroom teacher as we have some school helmets, bikes and scooters available for students to use.

Running of the Event:
On the morning of the duathlon (Friday 9 December) all students are to place their bikes/scooters on the blue tennis court outside the hall. Each classroom will have a designated area to place their equipment. This area will become the transition area during the races.

The children will be sent off in waves (girls and boys) within their classroom time.

All classroom teachers have a copy of the course and the children will be walked around the course prior to racing to ensure they familiarise themselves with the course.

If you are able to assist with the running of this event please contact David Guthrie. We will require some marshals to help in the transition areas and around the course.

Timetable For The Day The children involved will be running, scooter/ cycling and then finishing with a run.

The duathlon will be held inside the school grounds.

• Year 0 - 2: Rooms 1 - 7, 16 & 17 (NB Approximate Times Only)
  • Room 16 and 17 - Year 1: 9.20am
  • Room 10 - Year 1: 9.30am
  • Room 1 - Year 1: 9.40am
  • Room 2- Year 1: 9.50am
  • Room 3 - Year 1: 10.00am
  • Room 4 - Year 1: 10.10am
  • Room 5 - Year 2: 10.20am
  • Room 6 - Year 2: 10.30am
  • Room 7- Year 2: 10.40am
  • Room 8- Year 2: 10.50am
  • Morning Tea break- no races during this time (11.00am-11.30am)
• Year 2 - 3: Rooms 9 - 12 (NB Approximate Times Only)
  • Room 9 - Year 3: 11.40pm
  • Room 11 - Year 3: 11.55pm
  • Room 12 - Year 3: 12.10pm
