As we hit the midpoint of this Term and the weather begins to improve it is great to see the smiling children continue, in the most part, to give their best.  As I often say to tamariki we all have parts of our lives and jobs that are not our favourite thing to do but it is important that these parts are given our full attention and effort.

The Board has completed its tender process for the supply of Out of School Care with Kelly Sports being awarded the contract.  Later this month I will be meeting with Paul from Kelly Sports to look at the nuts and bolts on how we will proceed. They have been engaged to provide Before School Care, After School Care and Holiday Programmes.  At the very least we hope to kick this off for the start of the 2024 year.

Congratulations to our Cotswold Mātāhae Jump Jam Teams competed in the Christchurch Strictly Jump Jam Competition on Saturday 12th August.

All teams were outstanding and represented our school Cotswold with bright smiles and a positive attitude.

A special congratulations to the Cotswold Mātāhae Monsters who placed 3rd in their category, allowing them to qualify for the National Jump Jam competition later this year.

Our Ferrymead trips have been a fascinating experience for our learners. Thanks to Paula Fleming-Connell and the Junior Syndicate Teachers for the work that has gone into this exciting experience for our tamariki.   Also a big thanks to a large number of parents who accompanied classes on their day out to Ferrymead.

Thanks to all those that have contributed to the Basic-Fact-a-Thon. Basic Facts recall and understanding lays the foundation for future success in Maths. Any support the tamariki and kura receive from this is greatly appreciated.

Congratulations to Rooms 5, 2 and 23 who have reached their class goal of $500 to receive an ice cream, cupcake and hot chip shout for their class this week.

This is our major fundraising event for the year and we have thrilled to have already raised an incredible $6,264.04.

Embracing Hearts Coin Trail

We will be holding a mufti day and coin trail tomorrowFriday, 18th August, to raise funds for Embracing Hearts.  Please bring your gold coins to the Hall (or outside the Hall if weather is warmer) to add them to the heart.

Embracing Hearts is a very special charity that aims to donate an AED to every school in New Zealand with a heart kid!  We were very fortunate to receive an AED for our school and local community at the end of last Term and would like to show our Cotswold Mātāhae values by "paying it forward" and helping Embracing Hearts to help another New Zealand school.

Keep up to date with all the events happening this Term via the Pānui and the Hero App.

If I can be of assistance please do make contact.

Ngā mihi nui

Chris

Repeats / Reminders

Year 6 Graduation Assembly - Tuesday 12th December — Image by: Marie Bianco

Year 6 Graduation Assembly will be held on the morning of Tuesday 12 December more information around the structure of the event will be released early next Term.

Leadership Opportunities

During Term 3 we are continuing to review the leadership opportunities offered to our learners.  One outcome of the review is that we have decided not to have the Head Boy and Head Girl roles continue after 2023.  We will instead look to share these responsibilities across a larger number of children enabling more to have the opportunities that these roles provide.

2024/2025 Planning / Enrolments

We are commencing our planning for 2024, with decisions to be made in the coming months. To assist us with our planning, can you please ensure that you have enrolled your pre-schoolers if they are due to start school in 2024 or 2025.

If you live in our school zone and you would like your child to attend Cotswold Mātāhae School, please complete our Pre-Enrolment Form. For planning purposes we require enrolment forms to be completed at least 12 months prior to starting school.

If you live outside our school zone, and would like your child to be included in any future ballot, please complete our Ballot Notification Form by clicking here.  Remember to select priority criteria that apply to your child (ie. sibling of current student).

If your family may be considering leaving Cotswold Mātāhae at the end of this year, please inform Marie Bianco as soon as possible so we can include this information in our planning.
