Principal Pānui - Week 6 2023
Tēnā Koutou Katoa,
Thank you for the support in raising funds for Schools that have been adversely affected by Cyclone Gabrielle. We are so thrilled to announce that we raised $925.60 with our Non Uniform Day last Friday. We have sent these funds directly to Schools in the Wairoa area.
Thanks to those of you who supported the John Parsons session on Monday evening. Feedback from staff from across the sessions throughout the day and after school was positive and in some cases the information shared was eye opening.
Well done to Mr Harper and his support team around yesterday's Senior Duathlon held in and around the School. What stood out to me was the positive attitude of all of those who competed in this event. Healthy Active Living was on show for all to see.
We are already over half way through the first term of 2023 with lots already happening for our learners. Thanks for your efforts at home ensuring the tamariki are ready to get stuck in each and every day.
If I can be of assistance please do make contact.
Ngā mihi nui

Senior Duathlon
A big 'OHHHH YERRRRRR' to all the students who gave their all in yesterdays Senior Duathlon. You can all be proud of your efforts on the run and on the bikes and scooters. Special thanks to all the parents and student teachers who supported this event. The school is lucky to have you. Thanks also to TMNZ and the community who turned up to cheer our students on around the course.
Well done to Mr Harper, Mr Guthrie and Cotswold team who organised the event. A considerable amount of work and planning goes into an event like the Duathlon and we are so lucky to have such a dedicated team.
A huge thank you to the parent volunteers and student teachers who assisted as Marshalls. We simply could not run an event of this nature without volunteers to keep our students safe and on course.
Special thanks to the local residents for the understanding and Traffic Management NZ for setting up the cones to keep everyone safe.
Confirmed results will be published in next weeks Pānui.

Tickets and Cash or Kindo confirmation need to be returned by Friday 24th March. All winners notified during the week of 3rd April. Collection will be after school.
Raffle Tickets will come home with your child/ren tomorrow. If you do not wish to sell your raffle tickets please return them to the school office so they can be handed to another family to sell.
Thanks for supporting the Parents Association Easter Raffle.
Scholastic Book Club Orders
The orders for the Scholastic Book Club Issue 1 have been delayed.
The Auckland warehouse has had system problems and with the Auckland weather event combined with the ferry sailing cancellations this has delayed the arrival of these orders. They will be distributed as soon as they arrive.
Thank you for your patience.
Update from Mainland Uniforms
Mainland Uniforms are excited to announce that uniform items with the new Cotswold Mātāhae logo are now in store at Mainland Uniforms, Wairakei Road.
Sweatshirts arrived in time for the start of Term 1 and its been great to see our New Entrants wearing them in Rooms 1 and 2. Size 4-6 sweatshirts are currently available and larger sizes will be arriving soon.
Jackets should arrive by early Term 2 ready for the winter months.
Delivery of the polo shirts and the merinos have unfortunately been delayed but should arrive mid-year.
The culottes, shorts, sports pants and trackpants remain in store in all sizes and won’t change with the new logo as they previously just had the school name sewn on a tag on the side seam.
Walk or Wheel to School Week
Thanks to everyone who has supported Walk or Wheel to School Week by travelling to school in an active way. It has been great to see so many tamariki and whānau travelling to school through various forms of transport.
Tomorrow is Funky Feet Friday where students get to dress up their feet. Wear your funkiest footwear - think wheelies, gumboots, football boots or jazz up your trainers with glitter, tinsel, feathers - go wild!
Mr Guthrie will have spot prizes for the funkiest feet.
All students that completed their Walk and Wheel passports are in the draw to win a prize provided by the Christchurch City Council. This will be drawn on Monday 13th March.
We look forward to supporting this Council initiative in 2024.

Parents Association Update
Welcome back to 2023 to our Cotswold Community, it has been a fun and busy start to the year so far. We welcomed Mr. Smith to our meeting this month and was great to have his input into our first meeting of the year. Unfortunately, we had to postpone our AGM, we will confirm a new date as soon as possible.
Our major discussion for our February Meeting is to plan our Annual Easter Raffle. We will hold a Non-Uniform Day on 24th March 2023, please bring along your chocolate donations and return raffle forms on the day or to office prior.
We will also be holding a second hand uniform sale during March. Please feel welcome to come along to our any of our meetings and see what’s involved, no commitment necessary. We look forward to being able to share our 2023 plans after our AGM.
