International Learner Enrolment

Greta Carrell —

Cotswold Mātāhae School welcomes the enrolment of International Learners.

You can apply for a placement at Cotswold School by:

  • Requesting an Enrolment Package for the School Office
  • Or; Downloading the Enrolment Package attached to the bottom of this article.

Conditions of Acceptance

In addition to the conditions listed here, all conditions that are part of the contract with parents, the fees refund policy and other school policies also apply.

Living Arrangements

  • All International Learners must live with their parents. A parent is defined as a person who is legally responsible for the child, and that the child normally lives with in their own country.

English Proficiency

  • Although an elementary level of English is desirable, no child will be refused acceptance due to their level of English, as all levels of English proficiency are catered for at Cotswold Mātāhae School.

Immigration Matters

  • Learners must observe the conditions of their visa. If a learner breaks the terms of the visa the school will report the fact to Immigration New Zealand, which may result in the student having to leave New Zealand.

Student Insurance

  • All learners are required to have travel and medical insurance for the duration of their period of enrolment, from home to home.

Behaviour Management

  • Learners and parents/legal guardians must accept and abide by rules regarding behaviour and conduct that apply to all students. Unacceptable behaviour may result in the termination of tuition.

Attendance

  • The learner will attend school on all occasions when it is open unless prevented by illness or other urgent cause.

Class placement

  • Class placements are decided on the evidence of assessment after arrival in New Zealand so all information given before enrolment about placement on courses and in classes is provisional. The school reserves the right to adjust placements and individual programmes at any time if it is in the student’s interests to do so.

Fee Protection and Refund Policy

  • The learner and the learner's family accept the conditions of the fee protection and refund policy.

Dealing with Grievances

  • The school's complaints procedure for international learners will be used to deal with grievances.
  • If a complaint is not resolved through the school's internal processes, learners can make a complaint through NZQA.

Safety and Well-being

  • Parents must keep their contact details (address, phone number, email address) held by the school up to date.

New Zealand Law

  • Learners must observe the laws of New Zealand. All disputes will be dealt with in New Zealand law.

Contact Details

  • Parents must inform the school of their New Zealand residential address, telephone number and email address. The learner and/or parents must advise the school of any changes to the contact details for the learner or parents.

Tuition Fees

  • Tuition fees will be paid in full before enrolment, or before enrolment is renewed (whichever applies).
  • All additional costs (as outlined in the school prospectus and year book) will be paid promptly, as required.
