The Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Chris Smith as the new Principal of Cotswold Mātāhae School, commencing January 28th, 2023.

Chris is currently the Principal Wakari School where he has been for the last 9 years. Wakari School is a contributing Primary school, (Years 1-6), with a current student population of approximately 320+ students. Prior to Wakari School, Chris was the Principal at Millers Flat School in Central Otago.

Chris is married to Anna and they have four school-aged children.

Chris is an experienced Principal with a genuine passion for primary education. He is open, honest and brings positive energy to his role. Chris works to build good relationships with children, staff and the community. He advocates strongly for his school and is focused on successful outcomes for all students.

We know Chris will be a good fit for our school and our community.

The hard work of Stephen Harrison and the staff at Cotswold over recent years has ensured that our school continues to be held in high regard. Chris will continue this momentum into the future and is genuinely excited about the opportunity to work with the Cotswold Mātāhae Learning Community.
