Cotswold Potato Growing Competition

Stephen Harrison —

It's back! The Cotswold Potato Growing Competition is returning for 2022

The Cotswold Potato Growing Competition is returning for 2022.

Purchase your Tickets from outside the Hall before and after school during Week 2 of Term 3 (8.30 - 8.50am / 3.00 - 3.15pm Monday 1 August to Friday 5 August, 2022). $5 per entry.

During Week 3 Competition Packs will be handed out. Each pack contains a numbered growing bag, seed potato and competition rules and instructions.

We have arranged some fabulous prizes and any donated prizes will be gratefully received. All proceeds go towards the Cotswold Gardens.

Do you think you can improve on the 2020 Winner whose effort weighed in at 1.6kg.

Morton Smith-Dawe have assisted us with the potato tubers again this year. “Haylo” is a new early potato which matures at 80-90 days, it’s a great all round potato with good flavour, for roasting, boiling, wedges & chips.

The idea is to grow your potatoes in this black bag using your own special mixture of soil and fertiliser and watering it as often as you wish.

RULES:

  • The potatoes must be grown in the numbered bag as provided.
  • The whole bag with the plant in it needs to be brought to school on weigh in day.
  • We tip the plant and soil out of the bag and just weigh the potatoes. You get to take your potatoes home and keep the black bag for growing in at home also.

NB - Weigh-In Day is scheduled for Wednesday 30th November 2022.

Thanks for your supporting the Cotswold Garden Club!
