COVID-19 Update - 22 March 2022

Stephen Harrison —

Thank you for keeping us updated regarding Covid isolation via the Household Isolating Notification Form.

Dear Parent(s)/Caregiver(s)

Thank you for keeping us updated regarding Covid isolation via the Household Isolating Notification Form. We also really appreciate parents reporting other absences via the Hero App as this makes the work of our office staff (somewhat depleted) easier. The form and App also ensure relevant staff including your child's teacher are notified and can respond where required.

The number of Covid cases across the school has gained momentum over the weekend and into this week.

Today, Tuesday 22 March 2022:

  • 27% of our student population is absent from school. (18.5% of this group were for Covid related reasons)
    • 11% of our student population are absent with a Covid Infection
    • 7.5% of our student population are isolating due to an adult or child in the household testing positive
    • 10% of our student population has returned to school after isolating due to a positive Covid infection, an adult or child in the household testing positive
  • 16% of staff members are absent from school.
    • 16% of staff members are isolating with a Covid Infection
    • 8% of staff members have returned to school after isolating due to a positive Covid infection or an adult or child in the household testing positive

We are managing to shuffle staff to ensure we have teachers in front of classrooms. At this stage we are supporting those isolating at home through printed resources where these have been requested. A reminder that you can edit and update your form at any time using the "edit link" emailed to you when you first submitted the Household Isolating Notification Form.

Your job remains the same, too:

  • If unwell, please stay at home.
  • Please continue to keep a really close watch of your whānau for anyone with symptoms. A new or worsening cough
    • Sneezing and runny nose
    • A fever
    • Temporary loss of smell or altered sense of taste
    • Sore throat
    • Shortness of breath
  • If any symptoms develop, get tested immediately, then stay at home until you receive the result.

We have appropriate public health measures in place.

We appreciate these are challenging times for our community. Thank you for your cooperation and support. If you have any questions or concerns please get in touch with one of us in the Covid Management Team:

A reminder, if you know of a family in our community who is struggling, please encourage them to reach out for support for example to access food, medicine, or access financial support via the COVID 19 support hub - Help is available – COVID-19 Health Hub.

The health sector has developed some excellent resources for parents on the KidsHealth website which you may wish to share with parents. Please check out the links below -
