Lockdown Poem

Marie Bianco —

Our brilliant Year 5 poets Katinka and Amelia have written a great poem about Lockdown

Lockdown Living

By T. Rainey and A. Adams.

Room 23

It’s sad we could not socialize,

But we had to keep our eye on the prize.

Cats going crazy, humans were at home,

They were no longer able to freely roam.

Able to go to the fridge all day,

It was like being at an ‘all you could eat’ buffet.

Pyjamas until lunchtime - no choosing clothes,

No one to see you, so anything goes.

Spreading cake crumbs in my bed,

Filled my parents with utter dread.

Lounging around and a lot of walks,

A lot more time to stop and talk.

Covid announcements on T.V. at one,

Were barely ever any fun.

Stuck at home with the same people each day,

It seemed like your friends were a world away.

Older siblings shouting and this was my space,

Thinking it was their job to put you in place.

While lockdown wasn’t exactly a dream,

We did it all for the Aotearoa team.
