Kia ora koutou e te whānau, 

Thank you to our school community for their well wishes as Chris Smith continues to recover at home. Chris will not be returning to school this Term and we look forward to welcoming him back in 2025.

What a wonderful couple of weeks we have had with all the events happening at Cotswold Mātāhae.

The fabulous Cultural Festival where whanau got the opportunity to mix and mingle with members of our neighbouring Kahui Ako schools.

We all enjoyed sampling the free kai and were grateful for the rain holding off for our wonderful performance!

Our Year 3 students participated with great perseverance in the Bike Rally at McLean's Island last Friday.

Our Year 4 students had their Beach Education sessions on Monday and Wednesday. Water safety is such an important activity to teach our students as we live so near rivers, lakes and the ocean. Click here to view the photos and the amazing writing from Room 18 students.

We have received information regarding health warnings in place for Canterbury recreational swimming sites. Click here for more details about the safe areas to swim in and around Canterbury.

We finished the fortnight with our Year 6 students challenging themselves and having fun at the "Tough Kids" Challenge at South Brighten Domain yesterday. Click here to view the photos.

Congratulations to the 11 athletes who represented Cotwold Mātāhae at the Canterbury Athletics Team who competed at Nga Puna Wai on Wednesday 27th November. Some incredible results at the top level including:-

  • Year 6 Boys 60m - Makahni (Rm 26) - 1st Place

  • Year 5 Girls 60m - Eden (Rm 22) - 3rd Place

  • Year 6 Boys Relay - Makahni , Sam W, Hayden & Ray - 3rd Place

PC4L Pyjama Day - 9 December 2024

PC4L Pyjama Reward Day

Remember to wear your PJs to school on Monday as we reward our students reaching XX Cotcha with their final PC4L reward for the year. This is not a non uniform day, if you are not wearing PJs then you must wear school uniform. No cost. Sports shoes to be worn for PE and Junior Duathlon training.

End of Term 4 Early Finish

Just a reminder school finishes at 12.30pm on Thursday 19th December.   

Kelly Club will be running an afternoon programme for students needing to remain at school.  This programme will commence at 12.30pm so if you need care please book in via their website

Class Placements, Reports

Class placements for 2025 have now been finalised, together with our End of Year Reports.

These will 'go live' and become available to parents via the Hero App on Friday 13th December at 5 pm.

- To see your child's report click on the image of your child, to view their End of Year Report.

- To view the class placement click on your child's image, and then the drop down arrow and select "2025 Class"

Last year we experienced an overload of the system so please be aware that you may need to log-out and login again to refresh your App and view this information once it goes live.

Students will get the chance to visit their new classroom, and meet their new teacher and classmates for a short time on the morning of 19th December.

2024-2025 Enrolments

If your child will not be returning to Cotswold Mātāhae in 2025 please get in touch with Marie Bianco urgently 2025 classes can be altered for next year.

If you are living in-zone, and have pre-schooler who you intend to enrol at Cotswold Mātāhae in 2025, 2026 or 2027 please complete an online enrolment form and we will be in touch. 

If you are not living within our school zone, and your child will be turning 5 between October 2025 and September 2026, you need to be register via the 2025-26 out of zone ballot.  Please complete the out of zone ballot application and be sure to select priority status (sibling of current or ex-student).

The Senior School (Year 4-6) are heading off to Jellie Park on Wednesday 18th December for their reward day.

Please remember to return your orange permission form to your class teacher, and payment (in the envelope provided) to the box into the by 9am on Monday 11th December.

Bishopdale Park Trips - 17 December 2024

Junior School Bishopdale Park Trip

On the afternoon of Wednesday 17th December our junior classes will be walking to Bishopdale Park for their end of year trip. Parent Helper forms came home on Tuesday. Please return to your child's class teacher by 6th December.

Junior Duathlon

Next Thursday, 12th December we will be holding our Junior Duathlon. Races will be held from 9.20am through to 12.40pm. Click here for details.

Once again thanks to all the parents for giving up their time to support all these events, we couldn't do it without you.

I'm hoping this lovely weather carries on to get outside and go for some walks.
