The Lentil Intervention

Crawshaw School —

Crawshaw has been donated amazing sports gear!

On the 6th May, Crawshaw was a recipient of thousands of dollars worth of sport gear from The Lentil Intervention. From sport shoes (including asics), to Macpac jackets and thermals, to volleyballs and soccer balls, to netball bibs and hockeysticks! Most of these items were brand new or in a barely used condition.

Crawshaw School sends a massive thanks the Lentil Intervention for this donation and will make sure it is put to good use.

About the Lentil Intervention:

We believe in providing opportunities to those less fortunate, especially those that could one day make a significant difference themselves. Previously, in collaboration with Sport Waikato and Team Energize, we coordinated the collection of sports gear and delivered it to lower decile schools in the Waikato region of New Zealand. This includes sports clothing, tracksuits, swimwear, shoes and bags, and equipment such as bats, rackets and balls.

This is a great opportunity to teach about a circular economy, giving unwanted items a new lease of life rather than sending them to landfills. The aim is to provide more kids with the opportunity to participate in sports.

“One pair of shoes, an item of clothing or even a cricket bat could change the path of a child, whether it be in sport or just life in general. In addition to associating themselves with other inspiring people, it builds better confidence which in turn develops these kids into good people, with, hopefully, the occasional new sporting star, too," - Eitelberg.

Initiated in 2012, there have been 14 schools as beneficiaries so far: Huntly Primary School (2012, 2020), Ngaruawahia Primary, Huntly West Primary, Centennial Park School (Te Kuiti), Crawshaw Primary (Hamilton, 2015, 2022), Te Kura O Waharoa (Waharoa), Paeroa Central School, Kerepehi School, David Henry School (Tokoroa), Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Te Hiringa (Tokoroa), Insoll Avenue Primary School (Hamilton), Ruawaro Combined School and Whitiora School (Hamilton).
