Camp Purple Live 2025: An unforgettable adventure at Camp Adair, Auckland

Belinda Brown - CEO, Crohn's & Colitis New Zealand —

As 2025 quickly approaches, one event stands out on the horizon for campers, volunteers, and families alike – Camp Purple Live.

Nestled in the stunning Hunua Ranges, this six-day event, from January 15th to 20th at Camp Adair in Auckland, promises to create memories that will last a lifetime.

Exciting Activities Await

We're thrilled to welcome 74 campers this year, each ready to dive into the adventure. The Camp Committee has been hard at work, organizing a variety of activities that range from adrenaline-pumping outdoor adventures like raft building and the Super Fox, to more relaxed pursuits such as arts and crafts and rock painting.

One of the most valuable aspects of Camp Purple, though, is the chance to form lasting friendships and bonds. Through team-building exercises, group activities, and shared experiences, campers connect with fellow participants who also have Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). These connections often extend far beyond camp, becoming cherished memories and lifelong friendships.

In addition to our regular campers, we're excited to welcome eight "Experience Camp for a Day" families. These families will get a glimpse into camp life, experiencing the magic that unfolds at Camp Purple.

CEO Challenges

Remember the “swimming with the eels” last year? Well, this year we’re bringing it back, with a few adjustments. Some of our Camp Committee will take on board the CEO challenges with Belinda. These challenges add an extra layer of fun and camaraderie to the camp experience, whilst raising necessary funds for Camp.

Celebrating Milestones

This year marks a special milestone as Camp Purple Live celebrates its 10th birthday! It’s a time to reflect on a decade of creating unforgettable memories, fostering friendships, and supporting each other through the journey with IBD. We look forward to celebrating this incredible milestone with all our campers, and volunteers, at camp.

Preparing Our Dedicated Volunteers

Our dedicated volunteers are gearing up for a training day on January 14th. This day is all about equipping them with the skills and knowledge they need to ensure a smooth and safe camp experience. One of the highlights of the training day will be our special guest speaker, Alexis Painton, a current camper, and her mother. They'll share their insights on the impact Camp Purple has had on their lives, helping our volunteers understand how they can make a first-time camper's experience comfortable and memorable.

The Countdown Begins

With the countdown to Camp Purple Live 2025 well underway, the anticipation is building. Flights are booked, apparel is ordered, the program is set, name badges are being made, and we’re tying up the last few loose ends. January 15th can't come soon enough!
