Celebrating World IBD Day in New Zealand
World IBD Day (19th of May) is commemorated in over fifty countries worldwide with the aim of raising global awareness and extending support to the five million individuals living with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
New Zealand has one of the highest incidences of these conditions in the world. IBD affects more than 20,000 members of our community, including our neighbours, friends, and family.
At this year’s gathering, we will shed light on the many challenges facing individuals with inflammatory bowel disease while traveling. We will embrace the successes and discuss the obstacles. We'll look at difficulties people face overseas when they need to access medications, require urgent medical treatment, or have to deal with simple everyday problems, like locating toilet facilities in an emergency.
When: July 22, 2024
Time: 5.30pm
Where: The Grand Hall, first floor of Parliament House, Wellington.
Canapés and refreshments will be served.
The evening promises to be an enriching experience, with opportunities to engage, connect, and learn. Every moment is a tribute to the resilience and strength, deeply ingrained within the IBD community.
For those eager to join us on this occasion, we invite you to reach out to Belinda at ceo@crohnsandcolitis.org.nz.
RSVPs close on the 5th of July 2024.
Special thanks to our host for the evening - Hon Chris Bishop, Minister of Housing, Infrastructure, Sport & Recreation.
