Can you share a little about Hurford Parker Insurance and Mortgage Brokers?

26 years ago Jeff Parker created an insurance broking business in Hawkes Bay with the late Jim Hurford.  Hurford Parker is a hard-working energetic company with a strong focus on staff wellness, family values and exceptional client service where there is a “face” to every discussion.

But Hurford Parker is much more than a thriving New Zealand owned business. We feel it is important to give back to the community in which we operate. So it goes without saying that what goes around comes around and for businesses to continue to succeed they need a healthy and vibrant community. A win-win scenario for both community and business is the desired outcome. We are passionate about New Zealand and passionate about the future of our business.

Today Hurford Parker is proud to continue to support clients from across Hawkes Bay and the rest of New Zealand.

How did you hear about and what made you want to support Camp Purple Live?

"Lying in hospital for 13 days, being treated for ulcerative colitis gave me time to think and research information about this dreaded disease. It was here that I came across Camp Purple on the Crohn’s and Colitis NZ website. I also spoke to Karen Murdoch, the IBD nurse at Hawkes Bay Hospital (who is a wonderful nurse and person), regarding Camp Purple.

Knowing what I was going through made me think how challenging Crohn’s and colitis must be for younger people. Most children take for granted that schooling, sports, social and other activities are a given. However, whilst IBD children can also attend and participate to their level, they are also faced with dealing with the impact of their Crohn's and colitis as well. Speaking to other people with the same disease gave me more information on how to deal with my condition. A group of likeminded children was an excellent way of providing them with the opportunity to do the same. I was keen to support young people from Hawkes Bay who would receive value in attending the camp."
