Kicking off 2025 with new leadership, big ambitions, and a thriving arts scene.
Meet our 2025 Arts Prefects: Laura Bates and Sullivan Sonntag. Stepping into their roles with passion and vision, they are determined to elevate the arts at Cromwell College. “We want to create a bigger push for the arts,” says Sullivan, while Laura adds, “Seeing the arts around would add more colour to our school” With plans to expand performance opportunities and establish an Arts Committee, they are already setting the stage for a dynamic and creative year ahead.
And they couldn’t have arrived at a better time. The College Board has just approved a three-year trial of annual arts events, meaning the Art Exhibition, Soirée, and Drama Production will now be held every year. No more alternating schedules—just consistent, enriching opportunities for students to engage, create, and perform.
This decision cements the arts as an integral part of the College’s academic and cultural life. A recent staff survey confirmed overwhelming support for this shift, with 100% agreeing it strengthens community connections and aligns with the school’s values. A staggering 93% believe these events will deepen student relationships, while 92% see them as a pathway to academic success.
To make this vision a reality, we’re calling on our community for support. We need volunteers to help bring these events to life, as well as sponsorship for kai, wine, prizes, set design, costumes, props, and musical instruments. If you have event management skills, resources, or time to contribute, we’d love to hear from you.
With strong leadership, a clear vision, and growing community backing, 2025 is shaping up to be a defining year for the arts at Cromwell College. The stage is set, the canvas is ready—let’s create something unforgettable.
