Te Kāhui Ako O Ngā Awanui
We’re excited to share some wonderful progress and updates from Te Kāhui Ako o Ngā Awanui—our learning community.
Kia ora e te whānau,
We’re excited to share some wonderful progress and updates from Te Kāhui Ako o Ngā Awanui—our learning community that brings together Cromwell College, our local primary schools, and early childhood centres to work collaboratively in support of all our tamariki.
A key ongoing support in our Kāhui Ako has been the full-time social worker, funded by Highlands, who works across both primary and secondary schools. Now in its third year, this role has become an essential part of our collective approach to wellbeing, providing valuable wraparound support for our tamariki and helping ensure that wellbeing remains at the heart of learning.
In addition, Highlands has committed a further $40,000 this year to support initiatives across our Kāhui Ako, enabling schools to tailor programmes and resources that best meet the needs of their learners.
We also want to acknowledge the generous and ongoing support of 45 South, who are now in their fourth year of investment in our Kāhui Ako. Over the past three years, they have contributed $90,000, and this partnership continues to make a real difference. Their funding has supported:
Speech Language Screening in early childhood centres
Cyber safety evenings for parents and programmes for students
Professional development opportunities for educators and community members.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to announce that Nathan Wallis—renowned for his engaging talks on child development and neuroscience—will be coming to Cromwell on June 5th. This will be a fantastic opportunity for whānau and educators alike, so keep an eye out for more information soon!
Lastly, we’d like to warmly welcome Stephanie Dolphin, who has been appointed as our new Across Community Lead. Stephanie will be instrumental in guiding and supporting the work of Te Kāhui Ako o Ngā Awanui as we continue to collaborate and grow.
Ngā mihi nui,
Matthew McCormick- Kāhui Ako Lead Principal
