A busy end to an even busier term

Matthew McCormick —

Kia ora koutou

And just like that, we get ready to enter our final week of term 3. As I look back at the mahi achieved over the past nine weeks I am filled with a sense of pride, and exhaustion!

There has been a number of monumental shifts in the local, national and international landscapes with the removal of nearly all COVID19 restrictions being arguable the biggest. We at CPS have been so pleased to be able to welcome our community into our school without restriction for the first time in over 2 years. The many learning celebrations that we have been able to share with you all, the most recent being the Ako, Kārearea and Hārewa Inquiry sharing evenings has been a true highlight and I must take this opportunity to thank you for the incredible support that you consistently show your tamariki (children) and our kura (school).

The Board election has recently taken place and we welcome 5 new members to our board; Sarah Dickie, Nicky Croft, Tineke Hayes, Lauren Hunter (Presiding Member) and Shona Hamilton (Staff Rep). David Crossan continues on from the previous board.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of the previous board who, for years worked tirelessly to improve our school, particularly in regards to property. They can feel a sense of accomplishment for leaving the school in a very exciting and prosperous position.

Please enjoy your time with your children over these coming holidays. Throughout this break, myself and the board will be planning ways that we can improve our community engagement to ensure that your voices are heard and our vision for education which we are currently creating reflects that of our communities aspirations. If you have some ideas of how to better improve our community engagement I would love to hear from you. Please email me at principal@cromprimary.school.nz

Ngā mihi,

Matt McCormick.
