Cust School is governed by an Enrolment Scheme/School Zone.

School Zone Information:

The following is a description of the outer boundary of the zone. All houses with entrances onto either side of the roads within this boundary will be considered part of our school zone. Tram Road from the Browns Road corner to Bennett’s Corner. Along Bennett’s Road to Glews Road. From Glews Road to Leslies Road. From the Leslies Road/Dickinsons Road corner to Ashley Road. From the Ashley Road/Cottles Road corner, along Cottles Road to the Ashley River. South of the Ashley River bed as far as Kennedys Hill Road. From Kennedys Hill Road to the Oxford-Rangiora Road. From the Oxford-Rangiora Road/Kennedys Hill Road corner to the Oxford-Rangiora/Boundary Road corner. Along Boundary Road to the Boundary Road/Kennedys Road corner. Along Kennedys Road to the Kennedys Road/Woodfields Road corner. Along Woodfields Road to the Woodfields Road/Browns Road corner. Along Browns Road to Tram Road.

How to Enrol:

People living within these boundaries are "In Zone" and have an automatic right to attend the school. Please complete and return an Enrolment Form. We appreciate early notification of your child's name, date of birth and expected start-date to assist us with our future class planning. If you live in the school zone and have not yet signalled your intention to enrol your child in 2025, please contact the school immediately to assist us to plan accordingly.

Out of Zone Information:

People living outside this boundary are "Out of Zone". The Board of Trustees determine if any Out of Zone places can be offered in Term 3 for the following school year, which will be advertised in the local newspaper. If demand is greater than the number of vacancies available, a ballot will be held to allocate placements.

Out of Zone Places for 2025

The Board of Trustees of Cust School has determined that up to 15 places are available in 2025. Cust School will hold a ballot preceding each term for enrolment the following term and will follow this timeline:

The deadline for receipt of applications for Out of Zone places for children who wish to enrol in Term 1, 2025 is 4pm Friday 20 September 2024. If a ballot for out of zone places is required, it will be held on Wednesday 25 September 2024. Parents will be informed of the outcome of the ballot within three school days of the ballot being held.

Applications from out of zone students will be processed in the following order of priority:

First priority will be given to students who have been accepted for enrolment in an approved special programme (not applicable for Cust School).

Second priority will be given to applicants who are siblings of current students.

Third priority will be given to applicants who are siblings of former students.

Fourth priority will be given to applicants who are children of former students.

Fifth priority will be given to applicants who are children of board employees.

Sixth priority will be given to all other applicants.


Enrolment Procedure:

  • Enrolment Form completed.

  • Birth certificate & immunisation certificate to be presented to the School Office for photocopying.

  • Parental consent forms (digital technology, EOTC etc) completed.

  • If your child is new entrant, the new entrant teacher will contact the parent/caregiver to arrange pre-entry visits for the term prior to starting.

  • Staff will provide you with stationery information that you will require.
