Room 6 News | Term 1, Week 10

Admin —

In Room 6 we have continued to aim high and push ourselves to be our best.

Over the last few weeks we have been busy exploring BEDMAS and GEMA during maths time while reviewing number knowledge and basic facts every day. Our top mathematicians have been flying and it has been amazing watching them work out some super challenging equations.

In writing we are super focused on our Narrative Writing pieces.  We have been closely looking at the purpose and structure of narrative writing and it has been fantastic watching the tamariki apply this knowledge into their own writing. We have been also exploring language features during spelling and learning about idioms.  During reading we are wrapping up our Lorax unit by exploring ecosystems and environmental challenges that are highlighted in the movie and book.

We had two teams head to the AgriKids Competition.  They did fantastically well and just missed out on the final round.  We also had a team compete in the Canterbury Kids Lit competition.  They placed 2nd which was an outstanding effort considering that there were 50 teams from across Canterbury involved.

Please pop in any time for a chat or to check out the learning we have around our classroom.

Ngā mihi nui,
