Room 3 News | Term 1, Week 10
Our Little Legends have been working incredibly hard this term, and I couldn’t be prouder of their effort and progress! Here’s a peek at what we’ve been learning:
Maths – We’ve been developing our understanding of ordering and comparing numbers to 1,000, strengthening our number knowledge and place value understanding. We’re also sharpening our basic facts to 20, which are essential for quick and confident problem-solving. Please continue practicing these at home—regular revision makes a huge difference!
Writing – Our young writers have been exploring compound and complex sentences, learning how to extend their ideas and add detail to their writing. The results have been fantastic! If you get a chance, come and check out their amazing work—it’s inspiring to see their creativity and confidence grow.
Reading – A strong focus this term has been decoding and comprehension, helping students to not only read the words on the page but also understand and engage with the meaning behind them. We’ve been practicing strategies to tackle tricky words and build fluency, ensuring our Little Legends become confident, independent readers.
Inquiry – As part of our learning about belonging, we’ve been reflecting on the many people who make Cust School such a special place. From students and teachers to whānau and the wider community, we’re recognizing the important roles everyone plays in creating a fabulous school to be a part of.
I am incredibly proud of our Little Legends - thanks for your ongoing support and have a terrific weekend :) ~ Shaz
