Principal's Kōrero
Kia ora Cust whānau
Following a very recent medical consultation, I have decided to follow advice and take leave for the remainder of my tenure here at Cust School, which effectively means I will not be returning to work. It is with deep regret and sadness that my time here is less than originally anticipated. While my departure comes unexpectedly, I have full confidence in the strength of the leadership team and staff and am highly optimistic about the future of the school. I am deeply grateful to those who have supported and encouraged me throughout my time here. I have appreciated the commitment and professionalism of the staff, along with the joyful interactions with the Cust students. I would like to take this opportunity to extend my sincere best wishes to all the staff, students, board, and the entire Cust community for the remainder of this year and into 2025.
Warmest regards
Gerhard Potgieter
From the Cust School Board of Trustees:
The Board would like to express our heartfelt thanks for the mahi that Gerhard has done during his time with us at Cust. Gerhard has always conducted himself with utmost professionalism and empathy, for which we are very grateful.
We would like to wish him the very best for his future.
Due to Gerhard finishing earlier than expected, Miriam Bell has stepped into her role as Acting Principal effective immediately. This will mean that she will also be teaching Room 6 on Fridays, with Robert and AnnMaree continuing to teach during the week. We would like to acknowledge Shannon McLeod who has stepped up during term 3. We are confident the school is in very capable hands with Miriam and Shannon, and that term 4 promises to be business as usual the Cust way.
