Principal's Kōrero...
There is some fantastic learning happening across Cust School as our assessment cycle comes to an end and classroom programmes and routines kick into gear based on fresh data. I love going into classes and seeing this learning in action - on the classroom walls, in exercise books, and through chatting with the students about what they are learning about and why. Having students articulate their learning helps transfer it from their working memory into their long term memory. Try talking to them at home about what they are doing in class - you might learn some new tricks, too!
This week I posted our Strategic and Annual Implementation plan to the school website. This is a really important document that underpins everything that we will do here at Cust School in 2025.
It outlines:
Our school theme for the year - 'Belonging Builds Brilliance'.
Our school strategic goals, set by the Board of Trustees for 2024-25.
The Puketeraki Kahui Ako (North Canterbury cluster of schools) achievement challenges for 2025.
Our School's 2025 achievement targets.
The actions that we as a staff have committed to so that we meet our achievement targets and maximise learning for all Cust tamariki.
All of this can be seen in the image above, which shows how all of these bits fit together. You can read the full document by following this link.
Have a great weekend,
Miriam
