Kia Ora Room 1 parents and caregivers, I hope you are all well and surviving this warm spell!

In class, after a few "disjointed working weeks" we are well and truly off and running with our work in each subject. Groups for maths and reading are 98% finalised and learning is occurring at a rapid rate. This week we have completed our maths and reading PAT tests and I've been extremely pleased and proud of the results on the whole. The kids will do their next PAT test in Term 4.

This Thursday our non-champs swimmers will be competing at Dudley Park whilst next Wednesday our championship swimmers will be doing their best to swim their fastest and attempt to progress through to the next stage of competition. We have been busy practicing most days however our trips to the pool will decrease significantly after next week.

If you have any questions or problems please don't hesitate to contact me ~ Andrew

Kia ora!

I can’t believe it's already week 4 - time is flying! Room 2 has had a fantastic start to the term. The students are settling in well, and it’s been wonderful to see their personalities shine through as they contribute to the class.

In math, we’ve been exploring statistics, focusing on bar graphs and identifying different trends. We’ve also started working on place value, which has been a fun challenge for the students.

For writing, Room 2 has been creating some amazing poems about belonging with Mrs. Winson. They’re looking fantastic, and I encourage you to come check them out as they go up on the walls. We’ve also been exploring picture books and writing, which will seamlessly connect with our inquiry work. It’s been exciting to watch the students tap into their creativity.

In reading, Room 2 has begun working in small groups during rotations, and they’ve been doing an incredible job! We’ve been focusing on guided reading and strengthening our comprehension skills.

We’ve also started doing Kapa Haka every second week on Mondays, which has been awesome! The learners really enjoy engaging in it.

In P.E., Room 2 has been having a great time every second Friday, working with coaches to develop their NFL skills. They’ve also been learning to collaborate as a team while playing Capture the Flag. Additionally, students have enjoyed participating in various activities with Mrs. Winson, which have been both fun and educational.

We’re still doing swimming, so please keep sending togs, towels, and any other necessary items to school.

Kia pai tō rā whakatā - have a great weekend! ~ Evie Rose
