Colour Science in Rimu
This Term, Rimu Team's Storytelling story is 'The Noisy Paint Box'. In Kōtuku (Mrs Wylie's class) we have been looking closely at colours and the colour spectrum. We completed experiments so we can then craft a scientific report.
This week's experiment we watched how different coloured felt tip pens were effected by water. We poured an equal amount of water into each beaker. We used multiple strips (2cm x 10cm) of paper towel and marked a coloured dot of our choice 4cm from the bottom. We then lowered and dangled only the end piece of paper into the beaker and watched as the water slowly crept up towards the coloured dot. At first, we noticed the colours spread further out. Over time, the colours bleed even further and separated out. As a class, we agreed that the black felt pen separated into the most colours. Check out our photos and video of our experiment.
