Video Interpreting Service

Notice —

On 8th April, the Minister for Broadcasting, Communications and Digital Media and Minister for Disability Issues announced that the New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) Video Interpreting Service will soon be available at weekends and on public holidays.

The service is currently available 8am to 8pm on weekdays.

From 1 July, the service will operate:

8am – 8pm Monday to Friday

10am – 5pm Saturday

12pm – 5pm Sunday

8am – 9pm Monday to Friday during May and November to support parent-teacher meetings

The above hours during public holidays.

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment and the Office of Disability Issues are currently undertaking a public consultation on relay services, including the NZSL Video Interpreting Service.

There are six proposed changes to the services and we invite you to learn more and make a submission in either NZSL or English at www.mbie.govt.nz/relayconsultation

If you have feedback on the proposed changes, we remind you that we need this by 9am, Monday 15 April 2019.
