Recently, KDEC held their annual Sports Day, over 2 days for the first time ever. We were fortunate to partner with Kelston Girls College (our neighbour) and host our Sports Day on their fields.

We had students from our Core School (preschool up to Tu Kokiri) participating, as well as some students from regional services.

We saw the students really enjoying the time to participate in athletic events as well as the time to socialise with their Deaf/Hard of Hearing peers, chatting in their preferred language. Many of them told us they loved the 2-day format, so we are looking at continuing this next year.

We were very proud to see our senior students being such great role models for our younger students.

Partnering with KGC enabled some of their Year 13 students to be involved in leading some events, further cementing our relationship with our partner school.
