Kotuku Cottage

Aliziah and his family came in and celebrated Samoan Language week on the 31st of May, by sharing some dances with us. We loved seeing their cultural clothes, watching the dances and then joining in!

Aliziah, Toby, Lyla, Aquila, Maraia, Sean, Josiah, Parneet and Hinepare at Room on the Broom. This was an interpreted performance held at the Isaac Theatre Royal in Christchurch. The show was performed by actors and puppets, and the students all enjoyed this new experience.

On Thursday the 13th of June we joined our friends from Hagley and Hillmorton Provisions to celebrate Matariki. Together we prepared kai, shared stories, and did some amazing art work around the theme of Matariki. Later in the afternoon our Whānau came to join us for dinner. Our evening ended with a very exciting fire poi display.

Video Stars in the Making!

While out at Sumner, we joined Matthew Flynn in the video room at van Asch. We had fun using the green screen, and we’re looking forward to seeing the final result!
