A message from Mrs Booth
On behalf of all the staff I would like to wish you all a very pleasant school holiday break. During the holidays, Helen Jaworski will celebrate her marriage to Phil and I know that you will wish to join me in sending our very best wishes.
I know that many of you have taken the opportunity to travel to see family, in some cases for the first time in a number of years. None of us should underestimate the challenges of the past two years and we are very grateful that we have now been open, without interruption, for six months.
We have been very fortunate in having very little covid in recent weeks. This is, in part, because we have continued to ask those who are sick to stay home, ventilate the classrooms and to strongly advise mask-wearing. We are told that the greatest risk of infection is transmission from adult to children. For this reason, the Board of Trustees supports us in asking that adults coming onto the premises wear masks. This is especially the case when coming indoors. It is always foremost in our thinking that we keep the children safe. Additionally, we wish to keep our teachers safe so that the school remains open. We have noticed that it has become more and more difficult to find relievers at this time.
This term, the PTA have been very busy with a variety of fun community events, from movies to our wonderful Matariki evening. I would like to thank Becky, Jess and the team for all of their dedication to bringing our community together whilst also raising much-needed funds for the school. This year our fundraising is devoted to improvements in our environment. Our first project is our "wellbeing" space in the old library/ teacher workroom. We also plan to work on changes and refurbishments to our STEM room and library.
During the school holidays, nominations for our Board of Trustee elections will open (further details elsewhere in this newsletter). Please do contact me if you have any questions or are interested in stepping forward.
I look forward to seeing you all after the holidays.
Warm Regards
Beverley
