A message from our principal
Dear Parents and Caregivers A special welcome to our new children and their families. We are also pleased to welcome Allanah Maples to our teaching team, and to welcome Geraldine Anderson back to our school.
We have made a good start to the new term, with lots going on. We have had a number of visitors to school who have been working alongside the teachers to enrich the learning experiences for our children.
Police Constable Murray Fenton has been in school through the past two weeks, working alongside our teachers to lead the children through the Keeping Ourselves Safe programme.
Melissa Foley, a Senior Scientist at Auckland Council, has begun her work with our Toroa team children. As "citizen scientists", the children are busy learning about water quality. Next week, Osprey will be down on the beach with Melissa carrying out their observations. how to monitor the quality of water.
Lucie Cheeseman, our maths facilitator, has also been in school team teaching with teachers. You may have heard your children talking about "Talk moves", "The Learning Pit" or problem solving in maths. These are some of the key features that Lucie has been helping us to introduce into the classrooms.
Our draft ERO report has been received this week and we expect the final report to be available to be shared with you within the next few weeks.
Finally, I am delighted to tell you that work on our forest playground is expected to begin in a couple of weeks. I don't think any of us expected the project to take quite so long to come to fruition, but fingers crossed all goes smoothly now.
Ngā mihi
Beverley
