Extra-curricular opportunities
We encourage our students to explore and develop their personal interests and talents
Whether your child wants to try something new, or expand their existing skills, they are welcome to join any of our extra-curricular groups.
Sports
Sports are a great opportunity for students to widen their friendship groups and develop teamwork skills.
Several sports, such as swimming and athletics, are offered during the day as part of the school curriculum. Others, such as netball and basketball, are extra-curricular.
Our school has a good sporting reputation, and our teams compete in a number of inter-school competitions. Practices and games take place after school or at the weekend.
We usually ask parents for a contribution towards uniform hire, prizes, entry fees, and transport, and we appreciate your help with team management and coaching.
Our sports coordinator is Jodie and you can email her at sports@devonport.school.nz
ePro8 (STEM)
This popular club challenges students to solve practical engineering and mechanical problems in teams.
Our school has had several winning teams in recent inter-school ePro8 competitions.
Chess
Chess develops strategic thinking, patience, and good sportsmanship.
We've had a successful chess team for many years.
All students, regardless of knowledge or ability, are welcome to join - we'll get them up to speed!
Kapa haka
Kapa haka engages students in the Māori world, familiarises them with te reo, and promotes collective achievement. Sessions take place during the school day.
Our kapa haka groups perform regularly at school events and at the Peninsula Festival.
On-site paid activities
You can also pay for your child to take part in the following activities on-site:
