Mobile phones in school

Beverley Booth - February 2, 2024

A reminder that children should not have mobile phones in their possession during the school day. This also applies to Smart watches that can operate in a similar manner to phones.

We do appreciate that there are rare occasions where our older children may be making lengthy journeys to and from school by themselves. In these cases it is understandable that parents may wish them to carry a phone with them during the journey.

We ask that any phones brought to school are handed in to the school office prior to 8.50am, to be collected at the end of the school day. If phones are handed in, they should be in a named ziplock bag. They will be securely locked away during the school day. Similarly, smart watches that send and receive messages, images or calls should be handed in.

This is a requirement for all schools. It is our belief that primary aged children do not need to have a phone during the school day.
