My teaching philosophy

I believe that children grow where they are watered. My holistic teaching approach supports each unique student’s academic, emotional, and social development. My goal is to nurture their curiosity, commitment, and love of learning so they can achieve excellence both inside and outside the classroom. 

My experience/qualifications

I graduated from San Francisco State University, where I earned a Degree in Early Childhood Education (primary school age children). After moving across the world to Aotearoa, I completed my Postgraduate Teaching Diploma. I began my career as an education support worker for children with special needs, taught Early Childhood and New Entrants, and most recently year 2, an age group I absolutely adore!

My special educational interests

I have a special interest in teaching Literacy – nurturing confident, joyful readers and writers who feel proud of their growth. I also enjoy teaching the Arts – embracing the individuality of every young artist as they explore and express who they are.

About me

I was born in London to two Kiwi teachers, then grew up in Northern California, where I completed my schooling in a dual immersion Spanish and English program. In 2021 I moved to New Zealand, loved it and have been living in Auckland since. I enjoy simple joys—connecting with friends and family, going for walks, and exploring all the unique things our communities have to offer!
