My teaching philosophy

While I am aware that my pedagogy will evolve and develop throughout my teaching career, I believe the best learning emerges through developing strong, trusting relationships with my students.

To achieve this, we celebrate mistake-making in the classroom as an essential aspect of learning and I aim to ensure every child consistently knows and feels they have great potential.

I am also passionate about the use of te reo Maori in the classroom as a way to respect and integrate bi-cultural values.

My experience/qualifications

I completed my Bachelor of Education at AUT in 2022 and I’m so excited to join Devonport Primary and put all my learning into practice! Both my parents are teachers and so I grew up immersed in the language and passion of teaching and it felt like a natural transition to become a teacher myself.

As part of my degree, I specialised in Pasifika Education which has given me an invaluable understanding of Pasifika perspectives, and a wider appreciation for the role culture plays in education for all students.

I started at DPS in 2023.

About me

I’m Auckland born and bred. I played lacrosse for North Harbour until I got injured, and I’m hoping to get back to playing again soon. I’m also a keen baker, something I’m sure my fellow staff members will appreciate!
