Mindful Parenting Course
We are very pleased to be able to host this course for our parent community in Term 3. This practical 6 session Mindful parenting course covers, effective mindful parenting solutions that reduce parenting stress, improving relationships and creating deep and lasting connections with your children.
The course will teach the tools to manage the modern pace of life, how to avoid feeling overwhelmed and how to manage anxiety. It offers particular relevance to parents as they enter the tween years, to help parents maintain their calm and their connection with their children, as their children explore their autonomy and start to push the boundaries.
The aim of this course is to provide psycho-education to as many in the community as possible, as we believe this material covered, supports the mental well-being of families and in these times of economic uncertainty, and long wait times for access to mental health, providing parents with the tools to limit their stress and worries overflowing into their families and children seems more important than ever.
- Course Cost: $150 pp or $250 for couple ( $25 per session)
- Time: Wednesdays. 7.30pm - 9pm
- Start date, Session 1: Wednesday 11 August
- Sessions 2-6: 18 & 25 August, 1, 7, 14 Sept
- Venue: Devonport School Staffroom
- Max size: 30 people
The course will be led by Gabrielle Findlay who is an Executive coach and mindfulness facilitator. The course has successfully run for the last 4 years around Auckland at various schools and it is run every term at The Parenting Place.
Course composition:
Session 1: Mindfulness - what knocks us into a Red brain/ Stress state and how to change that.
Session 2: Emotions - How to manage your emotional triggers and emotional responses.
Session 3: Connection - How to build a secure connection with your child for their healthy emotional and psychological development.
Session 4: Setting Boundaries - Setting rules and age appropriate boundaries that develop internal locus of control, responsibility and maturity in the child.
Session 5: Core Beliefs and thought patterns that are causing us 'pain' and how to change them so we don't pass them onto our children.
Session 6: Relationship Dramas & patterns we get stuck in and how to shift to healthy relationship dynamics within our families.
