Osprey teachers for 2018

Beverley Booth —

Next week we sadly say farewell to Michael Lawton and so I am sure that parents will be eager to hear news of our latest appointment. I am delighted to announce that we have appointed Sarah Watson, a young teacher currently teaching in Scotland. Sarah will teach Y6, along with Andrew Robinson. Barbara Henderson is to move to Year 4/5, working alongside Helen Jaworski and Fiona Webb. Read on for further details about Sarah...

Sarah currently teaches Primary 7 (aged 11), in Scotland, and works closely with the teacher in a parallel class, as well a team of upper primary teachers. Sarah's approach to teaching and learning aligns well with DPS practices. She works to prepare her students  for life in the 21st Century by providing opportunities for the children to become effective collaborators, independent learners, critical thinkers and digitally literate. This is achieved through helping to introduce STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) into her timetable as well as introducing practices familiar to our school, such as Growth Mindset. She believes strongly in keeping parents up to date with what is going on in the classroom.

Those who currently work with Sarah describe her as a totally reliable, excellent teacher who brings out the best in children. In the words of her current principal, "She is wonderful and will be greatly missed.... if I could clone her I would".

We look forward to welcoming Sarah into the team in the new year. She will teach in Room 13 (Y6), whilst Andrew will remain in Room 12 (Y6). This will enable the two Y6 classes to work closely together.
