While children are learning from home, they are away from the online safety and security services provided by Network for Learning (N4L) at school. So together with N4L and Netsafe, the MoE has launched www.switchonsafety.co.nz - a free way to block the worst of the web for students and teachers. On this website you can follow the instructions to set up your child’s device for safer connectivity while they learn from home. Remember, no technical solution is a silver bullet, so please complement this with digital citizenship toolkits provided by Netsafe.

The Ministry of Education has announced that principals may apply for special dispensation to enter the school building on one occasion to retrieve devices that can be loaned to our students. I have applied for access for Thursday for myself and Mrs Thompson. Should this be granted, we will clean and package the iPads and will then need to send them out by courier. We are not permitted to hand deliver the devices. 

Thank you to those parents who have already let me know that they need one of these devices. We will prioritise our Year 4 - 6 students but, at present, it looks as though we will be able to provide devices for our younger students too. 

Year 4 - 6 students receive and submit their work through Google classrooms so having a device will be very important for them. Younger students will receive their work via their parents but will need some access to devices. 

Please let me know urgently if you need a device. We will not be able to enter the building again to retrieve further devices. Could you also let me know if you require a charger with the iPad, as I am aware that we have more devices than chargers available.
