Introducing Heba ...

Jill Pears —

Heba is the new Garden Specialist at Diamond Harbour School.

When I was asked to write a little introduction about myself for the school newsletter I put it off for as long as possible. What could I write about myself that was interesting enough for others to read? Maybe I could mention that I just moved to the harbour area from the Netherlands with my family? That I am quite creative? Both are true, but not very exciting. That I love planting seeds and seeing them grow into beautiful plants that produce fruit and vegetables? That’s probably quite obvious otherwise I wouldn’t have applied for the position of school gardener.

What I would really like is to talk to you in the garden. I always feel awkward asking people personal questions, I feel like I am invading their personal space. But that doesn’t mean I don’t want to get to know you! I really do! So maybe you could come and have a chat in the garden? We could get to know each other there. We could even work together as it would be great to have a helping hand on Wednesdays and Fridays when the kids come to work in the garden.

So enough for now. If you would like to give me some pointers for the garden, help out or have a question, just drop me a line at heba.mashhour@diamondharbour.school.nz
