Classes for 2020

Jill Pears —

2020 is now just around the corner.

Diamond Harbour School will continue with junior, middle and senior teams for 2020. Teachers in the senior team are Sally Craw and Lizzy Laing with Sally as the team leader, in the middle team we have Karen Steedman and Muriel Haines with Fiona Rice as the team leader, and in the junior team we have Louise Dennis and Karen Coom with Louise as the head of the Junior School.

We are fortunate to have such dedicated and talented staff who bring not only their teaching talents to the school, but a range of other interests and abilities that enrich the lives of our tamariki, and enable us to provide a range of opportunities.

Fiona Rice, in her role as Deputy Principal will have a whole school role. With her mathematics specialisation she will continue to drive the maths focus in the school, working across all the classes. She will also provide the release for teachers as necessary.

Each of the teams works collaboratively in their space. Students will have a home teacher, who is the first contact for parents and provides the pastoral care for the student. Students will also be taught by the other teacher in the space, and indeed by other teachers across the school depending on learning needs and interests. This flexibility ensures we are able to cater for all of our learners as individuals.

When considering the home teacher for each student we consider a variety of factors including personality, interest, friends and learning factors. If you wish to have input into this please contact me (Jill Pears) before Friday, 6 December.
