Music Festival - Important information

Fiona Rice —

Our choir performs next week at the Christchurch Music Festival. We are looking forward to a wonderful concert. Read on for all the information.

A reminder that the festival is on Thursday 7th November at the Christchurch Town Hall.

If you have not yet got tickets, ticket information can be found here. When buying tickets, check out where we will be sitting here if you want to be able to see our school (we are on the right above the stage).

All singers have their choir books so they can learn the words to the songs. They will not be able to use books on Thursday. Here is a link to the songs for those who would like to practise singing the songs at home.

Performance day rehearsal

We will be rehearsing at the Town Hall from 9:45am-12:00pm. The bus will leave school promptly at 8:30am: please could all children be at school by 8.25am at the latest. They will not be able to travel on the school bus as this will arrive too late.

Sorry, but children are not allowed to take food to the Town Hall on the morning of their rehearsal so they will need to have a substantial breakfast on that morning.

Evening performance

Students will need to wear the school uniform (school green or blue t-shirt and blue bottoms) for the evening performance. We have several blue t-shirts (no monogram) available from school (from production) available for purchase $4. Please let me know as soon as possible if you would like to purchase one of these t-shirts. Long hair must be tied up as per school rules and singers have been asked not to wear shiny jewellery.

School choir members need to be at the Town Hall by 6:30 pm. Allowance needs to be made for inevitable traffic and parking issues in the central city. Better to be a little early than late – aim for 6:10 pm and you will there on time.  All school choir children are to enter through the main doors of the Town Hall and use the appropriate side staircase that they used in the morning rehearsal to go to their designated seats. Choirs remain seated throughout the performance, including the interval, so will need to be toileted before they go to their seats. The performance begins at 7:00 pm.

At the morning rehearsal, I will organise a place to meet after the concert, and let you know where this will be on Thursday. Students, need to make their own way to the concert, but if your child needs a lift please let us know.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
