Kia ora koutou,

Denissa Hora —

We hope the end of term finds you well - below is information from the Diamond Harbour School Board of Trustees Redevelopment Committee about our progress with the school redevelopment.

Brief progress of redevelopment:

  • final design for construction has been signed off
  • building consent will be submitted to Council this Friday, 28 September
  • documentation will be issued for tender next Friday, 5th October
  • consultation has been undertaken with Staff in regard to the selection of colours and finishes to be finalised by 16th October
  • we have had exciting input with incorporating cultural narrative within our school. Mahinga Kai is significant in the area, and associated practices and values are closely aligned with our school values, so it makes sense to incorporate ideas associated with these practices. A presentation will be given to the community during Term 4 to explain how this can be achieved.

Brief summary of the redevelopment:

  • the main school classroom building is being fully refurbished with the addition of an outdoor learning space
  • inclusion of wider verandahs for covered external bag storage
  • new administration building
  • creation of an entrance area into the school. This is something the school has not had before.
  • incorporation of cultural narrative within our school will be utilised to enable continuity and links by a similar theme mainly achieved with various treatments of the various landscaping elements

The latest drawings have been displayed in the office window, if you wish to see more of the detailed drawings or require further explanation, please talk to Jill. We will continue to keep you posted.
